DuringthespringandAutumnperiodandtheWarringStatesperiod,ZhengandHanestablishedtheircapitalsinXinzhengformorethan500years.DuringtheQinandHanDynasties,Xingyang,Gong,Jing,XinzhengandothercountieswereestablishedinZhengzhouarea.Xingyangoncebecametheworld'sfamouscapitalof"FuGuanHaiNei".Afterthat,XingyangCounty,NorthYuzhouandXingzhouweresetupinZhengzhou.In583ad,XingzhouwaschangedintoZhengzhou.Suikaihuang16years(AD596years)setuptheStateAdministration.Guancheng,asthegovernanceofZhengzhouandGuanzhou,hasbecomethepoliticalandeconomiccenterofZhengzhou.AftertheopeningoftheGrandCanalandTongjicanalbyEmperorYangoftheSuiDynasty,ZhengzhouoncebecameanimportanthubofwaterandlandtransportationinChina.AfterthecapitalofBianjingwasestablishedintheNorthernSongDynasty,ZhengzhoubelongedtoJingjiroad.InthefourthyearofChongning(AD1105),itwasbuiltasXifuandbecameoneofthefourFucountiesintheSongDynasty.IntheearlyMingDynasty,ZhengzhoubelongedtoKaifengPrefecture.IntheQingDynasty,ZhengzhouwaspromotedtoZhilitwice.
Atthebeginningofthiscentury,duetotheintersectionofpinghanrailwayandLonghaiRailwayinZhengzhou,Zhengzhou'snationalindustry,handicraftindustryandcommercedevelopedrapidly.In1923,theFebruary7thstrikebrokeoutinZhengzhou,whichshockedChinaandforeigncountries,andwroteagloriouschapterinthehistoryofChineselabormovement.From1929to1931,Zhengzhouonceabolishedthecountyandsetupacity.ZhengzhouwasofficiallyestablishedonOctober22,1948andbecamethecapitalofHenanProvincein1954.
