IfirstgottoknowMissPanwhensheenrolledatuniversityandIwastheassistantdirectorofherclassatthattime.Beingaprofessorforseveralyears,Inoticedthatduetothelackofself-learningability,itisreallychallengingforstudents,eventhoseperformingexcellentinseniorschool,tokeepupwiththecollegespeed.However,asadiligentgirlwithoutanysolidbackgroundinComputerSciencebeforecollege,sheadaptedquicklytotheespeciallycompetitiveenvironmentinourdepartment.Attheendofthefirstyear,sheearnedthe5thrankinherclass,whileranking1stamongthegirls.Iwasfairlyimpressedbyherself-learningtechniqueandexceptionalefforts.Hence,Ibelieve,goal-oriented,notafraidofinchoatenessandwithpersistence,shehasthequalitytomakeachievements.
Whatdistinguishedheramongherclassmates,Ithink,wasthatshewentfarbeyondacquiringexcellentscoresintheexamsandinsteadgotherrangeofknowledgeenlarged.Inspring,2006,MissPantookthecourseItaughtnamed“AlgebraicStructuresandCombinatorialMathematics”.Thisinquisitiveandassiduousyoungwomanwassometimesthelasttoleaveaftermyclass,raisingnovelquestionsrelatedtothesubject.Ifoundthatsheunderstoodtheknowledgeindepthanddetail.Furthermore,IstillrememberduringthespringvocationinMay,duetothebreak-downofmymailbox,Imissedhermailstodiscussingsomequestions.Butthefollowingweekduringthecoursetime,sheaskedmedirectly.Herzealforknowledgeandthespirittoexploreanswersreallyleavemeadeepimpression.Finally,shewasamongthefewstudentswhogotalmostfullmarksineverytestinclasswhichshowedherexceedinggraspofeverychapter.Thus,Igaveher98/100fortheexcellentperformanceinmycourse.
