ThetempleofheavenistheplacewheretheemperorsofMingandQingDynastiesworshipheaven.Itwasfirstbuiltin1420(the18thyearofYongleinMingDynasty),andthenaftercontinuousexpansion,itwasbuiltinQianlongperiodofQingDynasty.Sinceitscompletion,ithasbeenaspecialaltarfortheemperortoworshipheaven.Itlastedfor490yearsuntiltheendofthe1911Revolutionandtheendofthefeudalmonarchy.Italsocompleteditsmission.Itwasturnedintoaparkin1918andhasbeen"visitedbyothers"eversince.In1957,itwaslistedinthefirstbatchofhistoricalandculturalrelicsprotectionunitsinBeijing.In1961,itwaslistedinthefirstbatchofnationalkeyculturalrelicsprotectionunitsbytheStateCouncil.
