FuzhouhaspreservedquiteanumberoflanesthathavebeenformedsincetheTangandSongDynasties,andhasbecomeoneoftheimportantsymbolsofafamoushistoricalandculturalcity.
The"ThreeLanes"of"threelanesandSevenAlleys"refertoYijinlane,WenrulaneandGuanglulane.Thethreelanesarelocatedonthewestsideofnanhoustreet,whichisconnectedwiththe"SevenLanes"ontheeastside
Yijinfang,formerlyknownastongchaoxiang.LuYunandLuZaolivedhereduringtheXuanheperiodofSongDynasty(1119-1120__).Theirtalentwasgivenawayandtheywerefamousforatime.LuYunwasthemagistrateofFuzhouandLuZaowasthemagistrateofQuanzhou.Whentheyreturnedtotheirhometown,theyorderedthissquaretobe"Dijinsquare".DuringthereignofChunxiintheSouthernSongDynasty(1174-1189),WangYiyangwasappointedtoJiangdongforpunishment.Afterretirement,healsolivedhereandrenamedDijinYijintoshowhisintentionofreturninghome.
Wenrufang,formerlyknownasshanyinxiang,wasoriginallyknownasrulinfang,whereZhengmu,asongdynastywineworshiper,lived.InadditiontoZhengmu,therearealsoninegenerals,GanGuobao,thecommanderofTaiwan,ZhangJing,thefamousgeneralofAntiJapaneseWarandthemanagerofsevenprovinces,ChenChengqiu,thefatherofChenBaochen,theteacherofEmperorGuangxuofQingDynasty,ChenYan,theeditorinchiefofFujianTongzhi,andotherfamousscholarslivingintheworkshop.
Guanglusquare,ChengSHIMENG,whowasthemagistrateofFuzhouinthefirstyearofXining(1068)oftheNorthernSongDynasty,oftenvisitedtheBuddhisttempleinthesquare.Whenhesawabigrockbesidethepool,heclimbedthestonetorecitepoems,soitwascalled"GuangluYintai",andthesquarewasalsorenamedGuanglusquare.Thestonecarvingsof"GuangluYintai"inscribedbyChengSHIMENGstillexisttoday.
TheSevenLanesinthe"threelanesandSevenLanes"arealllocatedintheeastofnanhoustreet.Fromnorthtosouth,theyareYangqiaolane,Langguanlane,Talane,HuangLane,Anminlane,GonglaneandJibilane.
