TheWesternTombofQingDynastyisoneofthetwomausoleumsoftheemperorsofQingDynasty.ItislocatedatthefootofYongningmountain,15kilometerswestofYiCounty,HebeiProvince,andmorethan120kilometersawayfromBeijing.Theperimeterisabout100kilometers,coveringanareaofmorethan800squarekilometers.ItissurroundedbytheemeraldYongningmountaininthenorthandthemeanderingYishuiRiverinthesouth,withtoweringancienttreesandmagnificentscenery.
Sincetheestablishmentofthemausoleum,theQingDynastyhasplantedtensofthousandsofpinetreesatthefootofYongningmountain,ontheBankofYishuiRiver,insideandoutsidethemausoleum.Nowthereare15000ancientpines,morethan200000youngpinesandcypresses.Themausoleumareaislushwithpinesandcypressesandbeautifulmountainsandwaters.The14mausoleumsarehiddeninthepineforest,justlikeagorgeouslandscapepainting.
EmpressXiaosheng'sTaidongmausoleumislocatedintheWestMausoleumofQingDynastyinYiCounty,HebeiProvince,andindongzhengyu,about1kmnortheastofEmperorYongzheng'sTailingmausoleum.TaidongmausoleumisthelargestofthethreeempressesMausoleumsintheWestMausoleumofQingDynasty.InSeptemberofthefirstyearofEmperorQianlong'sreign(1736),PrinceHengHongmin,theMinisterofinternalaffairsandtheMinisterofhouseholdaffairsHaiwang,askedEmperorQianlongwhethertoreservethethronefortheEmpressDowagerafterEmperorYongzhengwasburiedintheundergroundpalaceofthetailingmausoleum.TheEmpressDowagerissuedadecree:"afteremperorshizongxian'sworshipoftheundergroundpalace,hewasalwaysquiet.Iftheactionistoberesumedinthefuture,thepremierwillfeeluneasywiththerighteousnessofsuperiorityandinferiority.Besides,theconstitutionofZhaoximausoleumandXiaodongMausoleumofourDynastycanbecompliedwith,andthereisnoneedtoreserveadivisionintheundergroundpalaceoftailingmausoleum."InaccordancewiththeEmpressDowager'sdecree,EmperorQianlongbuilttheTaidongmausoleumfortheEmpressDowagerinthesecondyearofQianlong(1737)andcompleteditintheeighthyearofQianlong(1743).Themainbuildingsfromsouthtonorthare:athreeholearchbridge,east-westxiamapai,fiveEast-Westhouses,threeEast-Westcheck-inhouses,andfivelong'engate.TherearefiveEast-Weststoves,fiveEast-Westhallsandfivedoubleeaveshalls.Therearethreemausoleumgates,shiwugong,Fangcheng,minglou,BaochengandBaoding.Belowthetopistheundergroundpalace.Ontheleftsideofthemausoleumisthekitchen.ThereisawellPavilionoutsidethereservoir.
