YixianLakeParkislocatedinthedowntowncommercialareaofShiqiDistrict,ZhongshanCity.TheparkisadjacenttoHubinRoadintheEastandYandunmountaininthesouth.Thepredecessoroftheparkisapieceoffarmlandandpond.In1959,itwasexcavatedbylocalcadresandmassesinZhongshanthroughvoluntarylabor,soitisalsoknownas"artificiallakepark".In1988,themunicipalgovernmentinvestednearly3millionyuantoadjustandtransformthepark.InordertocommemoratethegreatmanSunYatSen,the"artificiallakepark"wasrenamedYixianLakePark.

Inthe1990s,therearemorethan2millionlocalandforeignpeopleinZhongshan.ThenumberofpeoplefromabroadandvisitingrelativesandfriendsinZhongshanhasincreasedgreatly.Inadditiontotheimplementationofweekendsandlongholidays,moreimportantly,thecity'stouristattractionshaveopenedoneafteranotherandmadealotofadvertisements.Theyarelinkedwithtouristgroupstoseeksurvivalanddevelopmentandstriveforashare.Incontrast,YixianLakeParkisbecomingmoreandmoreold,itscharmhasbeengreatlyreduced,anditssceneryisnolongerbeautiful.Inthe10thfiveyearplan,themunicipalgovernmentisdeterminedtoinvestahugesumofmoneyinanother"majoroperation"ofthepark,andthepublicareverysupportiveofit.ItisbelievedthatYixianLakeParkwillcoordinatewellwithSunXipedestrianstreetZhongshanParkandscenicspotsonbothsidesofQijiangRiverinthenearfuture,andbecomeabeautifulscenicspotinZhongshan.
