Huangguoshuwaterfallis137kilometersawayfromGuiyangCity,theprovincialcapital.ItislocatedonBaishuiRiver,atributaryofDabangRiver,whichbordersZhenningCountyandGuanlingCountyinwesternGuizhouProvince.IttakesaboutanhourandahalftogettoHuangguoshubybusfromGuiyang.
Huangguoshuwaterfallhasarrived.Yousee,thisisthemostfamouswaterfallinChina.
Huangguoshuwaterfallis68metershigh,andtheupperwaterfallis6meters,withatotalheightof74metersandawidthof81meters;Duetothestrongimpactofthecurrent,thesplashedwatermistcandiffuseformorethanhundredsofmeters,sothatthestockadeandmarketsonthetopofthecliffontheleftsideofthewaterfallareoftencoveredbythesplashedwatermist.Visitorscallit"silverrainsprinklesGoldenStreet".Whenthewaterissmallinwinterandspring,thewaterfallwillbedividedintothreeorfivestrandsandhungdownfromthetopofthebank.Fromadistance,thewhitecurtainofwaterwillfloatdownlikesilk,fairy'sfaceandlady'sraccoon.Forhundredsofyears,themajesticappearanceofHuangguoshuwaterfallhasbeenmarveledbymanyscholars.IntheQingDynasty,Yanyinliang,afamouscalligrapherinGuizhouProvinceandtheauthorofthethreetitlesofthesummerpalace,wroteacoupletinthe"wangshuiPavilion":"whitewaterislikecotton,itdoesn'tneedtobowandbouncetodisperse.ThemagnificentsceneryofHuangguoshuwaterfallisvividlysummarized.
NowwecometoRhinocerosPool,wherethewaterfallfalls.Thispoolisnamedafterthelegendthatthereisarhinoceroshiddenunderthewater.Noonehaseverseenarhinoceros,butthemysteryofthepoolisstilldeep.Anyonewhostopsbythepoolwillthinkaboutit.Ifit's10amor4pmonasunnyday,duetotherefractionofthesun,youcanalsoseethesevencolorrainbowrisingfromthedeeppoolthroughtherainandfogsplashedbytheimpactofthewaterfall,whichmakesyoufeelmajesticandgorgeous.
WhyisthiswaterfallcalledHuangguoshuwaterfallinsteadofotherwaterfalls?Accordingtofolklore,thereisatallHuangjuetreebesidethewaterfall.Accordingtothelocalaccent,"Jue"and"Guo"havethesamepronunciation,sopeopleareusedtocallitHuangguoshu.Thisisakindofsaying.Thereisanothersaying.Itissaidthatlongago,farmersnearthewaterfalllikedtogrowyellowfruits.Therewasalargeyelloworchardbesidethewaterfall,sothewaterfallwascalledHuangguoshuwaterfall.
Comparedwithotherfamouswaterfallsintheworld,Huangguoshuwaterfallisnotaswide,deepandmagnificentasVictoriawaterfallinAfrica,niagarawaterfallinNorthAmericaandanherwaterfallinVenezuela.However,Huangguoshuwaterfallhasitsownpeculiarities.Itisthemostpopularandspectacularwaterfallinkarstareasintheworld.Thiswaterfallislikeastrangemagnet.Ithasaseriesofmagnificentsceneriesontheground,underground,waterandwater.Oneofthemostmagicalplacesisthecliffcorridorcavehiddenhalfofthewaterfall.BecauseoftheclimbingofvinesoutsidethecaveandthePearlcurtainhangingonthewater,itiscalled"watercurtaincave".Thisisauniquesightthatnootherwaterfallintheworldhas.
Ladiesandgentlemen,"watercurtaincave"hasarrived.Thewatercurtaincaveis134meterslongandconsistsofsixwindows,threeGudongspringsandsixpassageways.ThisisthesceneofShuiliandonginthelarge-scaleTVseriesjourneytotheWestadaptedfromChinesemythology.
Thisisthefirstcavewindow,whichisthelowest,only40metersawayfromthewatersurfaceofRhinocerosPool,butthecavewindowisthewidest,morethan10meterswide,locatedinthemiddleofthefirstandsecondwaterfalls.Whenthewaterisheavy,thetwowaterfallsconnecttoformacurtaintosealallthecavewindows;whenthewaterissmall,itopensagainandagain,rangingfromafewmeterstomorethan10meters.Minlikesacurtainthatcanbeopenedandclosedatwill.
Thisisthesecondwindow.It'sonlyabout4metersawayfromthefirstwindow.Thisisaquietworld,knownascrystalpalace.Itistheheartofthewatercurtaincave,11meterslong,9metershighand3meterswide.Thereisaspringbesidetheroad,clearandclean,andthewaterleveliskeptatthesamelevelforalongtime.Therearemanystalactiteshangingonthetopofthecave,andtherearevaluablecurlystonesonthestrawstalactites.Therearecountlessstonecurtainsandstonecurtainshangingonthewallofthecave.
Thisisthethirdholewindow.Itprotrudesoutwards,muchlikeabalcony.Thewindowis1meterhighand3meterslong.Thereisaguardrailoutside.Visitorscanreachforthewaterfallwhenstandingbehindtheguardrail,sopeoplecallit"touchthewaterfallplatform".
Ladiesandgentlemen,nowwearegoingtovisittheRhinocerosPoolcanyon.Yousee,fromthewaistdownoftherhinoceros,therearesuccessivedrops,whichareRhinocerosPool,sandaotan,horseshoebeach,youyujingandsoon.Amongthesepools,theRhinocerosPool,whichis17.7metersdeep,isthefirstone.Itisoftencoveredbysplashesandsubmergedbyfog.Aslongasthereissunshine,therearecolorfulrainbowshangingonthesplashingbeadsofthewaterfall,movingwithpeopleandunpredictable.
WhyisHuangguoshuwaterfalllikethis?ThisisbecauseHuangguoshuwaterfallislocatedinkarstarea,whichiscausedbytheerosionofwaterflow.Whenthetraceableerosionpointreachestheupstream,theriverwaterscours,dissolves,erodesandabradesalongthekarstfissure,andthepipelineexpandsgradually,formingthecaveandundergroundriver;afterthelocalsurfaceriverisinjectedintothecave,theproportionofwatervolumeincreasesgradually,formingauniqueattackinthekarstarea,andattheplacewheretheopenflowisinjectedintothecave,acavewaterfallisformed.Withtheincreasingerosionandstrategiccollapse,theundergroundrivercavesbecomelargerandlarger,soaseriesofverticalshaftsandskylightsaredevelopedalongthedryvalleyofthesurface.Theyareexpanding,mergingandcollapsing,resultinginthemagnificentHuangguoshuwaterfallandthedeepandsteepcanyondownstreamofthewaterfall.
