LujiazuifinancialandtradezoneisoneofthemainfinancialcentersinShanghai,China.ItislocatedontheBankofHuangpuRiverinPudongNewArea,oppositetotheBundFinancialInnovationExperimentalZoneontheWestBank.LuoshanroadintheEast,LongyangRoadinthesouth,HuangpuRiverintheWestandNorth.Thetotalareaofthewholefinancialandtradezoneis31.78squarekilometers,ofwhichLujiazuiCentralArea(EasttoPudongSouthRoad,SouthtoDongchangRoad,WestandnorthtoHuangpuRiver),alsoknownasXiaoLuJiaZui,coversanareaof1.7squarekilometers[1].Itistheonlynationaldevelopmentzonewithfinance,insurance,securitiesandcommerceasthemainindustries.
In1990,theStateCouncilofthepeople'sRepublicofChinaannouncedtheopeningupofPudongandestablishedthefirstnationalfinancialdevelopmentzoneinLujiazui.Lujiazuialsoattractedmanydomesticandforeignenterprisestosettlein.BytheendofSeptember20__,therewere626domesticandforeignfinancialinstitutionsand71regionalheadquartersofmultinationalcompaniesintheregion.Bankofcommunicationssetupitsnationalheadquartershere.TheheadquartersofBankofShanghaiandShanghaiRuralCommercialBankarealsolocatedinLujiazui.Meanwhile,thereare18corporatebanksofforeignbanksintheregion,suchasHSBC,Citibank,StandardCharteredBank,BankofEastAsia,DBS,etc.TheShanghaistockexchange,Shanghaifuturesexchange,ChinaFinancialFuturesExchangeandtheChinesemainland'sonlydiamondimportandexportexchangeShanghaiDiamondExchangearealsolocatedinLujiazui'sfinancialandtradezone.Inaddition,ShanghaiNewYorkUniversity,thefirstInternationalUniversityjointlyrunbyChinaandtheUnitedStates,wasalsoestablishedinLujiazui,anditsfoundationwaslaidinMarch20__.
Lujiazuiisalsoahigh-risebuildingarea.TherearemanylandmarkbuildingsinShanghai,suchasthehighestShanghaicenterinShanghai,Shanghaiworldfinancialcenter,OrientalPearlTVTowerandJinmaoTower.Thehigh-risebuildingshereandthehistoricalbuildingsontheBundontheoppositebankformauniquesceniclineonbothsidesofthePujiangRiver,whichmakesLujiazuianimportanttouristgatheringpointinShanghai.Withatotallengthof2.5km,BinjiangAvenueisafamousscenicspotoftheBundbuildingontheotherside.ThescenicspotsinLujiazuidistrictincludeLujiazuiCentralGreenSpaceandShanghaiOceanAquarium.
