Xiningisanancientplateaucitywithahistoryofmorethan2100years.Itwascalledxipingtinginancienttimes.ItwastheplacewhereZhaoChongguo,thegeneralofthelaterHanDynasty,settledhisfields,thecapitalofNanliang,thethroatoftheTangandfanancientroad,themainroadoftheSouthSilkRoad,thegatewayoftheQinghaiTibetPlateautotheCentralPlains,andoneofthebirthplacesofHehuangculture.Ithasbeenabright"Pearloftheplateau"sinceancienttimesLeavethemostperfectscene.In2014,Xiningreceived14.4325milliondomesticandforeigntourists,withatotaltourismrevenueof12.683billionyuan.

Shixiabreeze
ShixiaQingfengis15kilometerseastofXining.Shixia,commonlyknownasXiaoxia,isfamousforitsdangerouspassesinhistory.Duringthereignoftheworld,itwasthemainroadconnectingtheEastandtheWest;duringthechaosoftheworld,itwastheimportantdoorseparatingthetwoplaces.InSongDynasty,Suiyuanpasswasbuilttocontrolthekeyarea,andthenWudingpassandDe'anpasswerebuiltinQingDynasty.Xiaoxiaalsoleftamovinglegendforpeople:inthepast,itwassurroundedbyheavymountains,andtheriverwasblocked.Someimmortalsthrewstonestohitthemountains,andthehillscollapsed,andtheHuangshuiRiverwasconnected,formingamajesticXiaoxia.Today'sXiaoxia,areinforcedconcretearchbridgeFlyingNorthandsouth,theroadisflatasastone,pedestriansandvehiclesflowceaselessly,dangerouspassintoathoroughfare.
Goldenmothinthemorning
Niangniangmountain,alsoknownasgoldenmothmountain,islocatedinDatongHuiandTuAutonomousCounty.ThereisaTianchiLakeonthetopofthemountain,andthereisacommandingheightonNiangniangmountain.Inthemorning,youcanwatchthesunriseonthemountain,andthesungushesoutfromthemountains.ItissaidthatthespectacularsceneiscomparabletothatofMountTai.Niangniangmountainisfamousforitsdeepandbeautifulscenery.
WenFeng
TomentionthisscenicspotisboundtomentionabeautifullegendofNanshaninXining.ItissaidthatpeopleoncebuiltaloftinNanshan,andPhoenixfellhere.Localpeopleregarditasauspiciousomen.Later,peoplebuiltKuixingPaviliononthemountaininthehopeofflourishinglocalliterarystyle.
FengtaiLiuyun
XiningNanshanisalsocalledFenghuangmountain.Thereisapaviliononthemountain,whichiscalledFenghuangPavilion.InNanliangperiod,FengtaiLiuyun,oneoftheeightancientsceneriesinXining,becameoneofthemostfamoussceneriesinXining.ThebuildingcomplexinNanshan,withGuanditempleasthecenter,wasbuiltintheeighthyearofYongleofMingDynasty.ItisawellprotectedMingbuildinginXining.Nowthescenicspotsonthemountainarenewlybuiltafterliberation.DuetothehighaltitudeofNanshan,Fengtaiisoftenshroudedincloudsandfog,formingitsownscenery.[19]
Dragonpoolnightmoon
Theso-called"dragonpool"referstoaspringlocatedinthesouthwestofsujiahewanvillageinthewesternsuburbofXining.Becausemanytempleshavebeenbuilthere,itisaplacewithstrongfragranceinhistory.ThetemplesherewerefirstbuiltintheMingDynasty,andthentheywerebuiltandabandonedagainandagain.InthelateQingDynasty,theywerecalledthe"FiveDragonPalace"andonceflourished.
Huangliuspringrise
HuangshuiRiver,alsoknownasXiningRiver,isanimportanttributaryoftheYellowRiverflowingthroughthenorthofXiningcity.Everyspringandsummer,theiceandsnowmeltintheupperreachesofHuangshuiRiver,andthewatersourceissufficient.ItflowstoXijiaoRiver,BeichuanRiverandNanchuanRiverinXining,andthenflowsintoHuangshuiRiversuccessively.Asaresult,theriverrisessuddenlyandthewavesareturbulent,soitiscalled"springriseofHuangshuiRiver",whichisoneoftheeightancientscenicspotsinXining.[19]
Wufengwaterfall
WufengwaterfallislocatedinbeigounaoofHuzhuTuAutonomousCounty.ItisnamedWufengmountainbecausethepeaklookslikefivefingers.Wufengmountainhasthreewonders:forest,springandcave.FromthedragonpalacespringupthestairsisWufengtemple.WufengtemplewasbuiltinQianlongperiodofQingDynasty.ItmainlyincludesBodhisattvahall,LongwangPavilion,Yuhuangpalace,XianggongbuildingandTonglePavilion.WufengmountainisalsoapopularfolksongsingingresortinQinghai,commonlyknownas"Hua'er"festival.June6everyyearisthemostbeautifulseasoninWufengmountain,andthe"Hua'er"festivalonJune6inWufengmountainisalsowell-known.
MistyraininBeishan
ThenorthmountainofXiningisalsoknownasTuloumountain.TuloumountaintemplewasbuiltonTuloumountain,andtemplewasbuiltontheformersiteofthetemple,formerlyknownasBeiChantemple,alsoknownasYongxingtemple.TherearemanyhistoricsitesinBeishan,includingBuddhisttemples,Taoisttemples,bricktowers,caves,muralsandopen-airBuddha.Aftertheexpansionandrenovationinthepastdynasties,caveswerechiseledbetweenthecliffs,and"ninecavesandeighteencaves"weresuccessivelydistributedfromwesttoEast.TheningshoupagodaonthetopoftheNorthMountainhasthearchitecturalstyleoftheTangDynasty.
