LuofuMountainisknownas"thefirstmountaininLingnan".Guangshanhighwaypassesthroughit.SheFangyuan,withanareaofmorethan260squarekilometers,isoneofthetoptenfamousmountainsinChina.ItisalsoafamousTaoistmountaininChina.Taoismcallsittheseventhcaveandthe34thblessedplace.ItisthesisterofXiqiaoMountaininNanhaiCounty,soitisalsocalledDongqiaomountain.
LuofuMountainislocatedinthecenterofthe"tourismandleisurecorridor"ineasternGuangdong,anditisabranchtypescenicspotandrepresentativescenicspotofthe"GuangzhouHongKongHuizhou"goldentourismtriangle.ThewholeLuofuMountainiscomposedofZhumingcave,huanglongguan,sulaoandfeiyunding.ThepurelandgardenofLuofuisanewlydevelopedscenicspotinhuanglongguan.Itisadjacenttothedevelopedurbanagglomerationsinthewest,HongKong,MacaoandSoutheastAsiainthesouth,andHuizhouintheEast.Itisnomorethan130kilometersawayfromGuangzhou,Shenzhen,HuizhouandHongKong.Thetransportationisveryconvenient.LuofuMountainisfamousforitsvastness,precipitousnessandprecipitousness;itisalsofamousforitswaterfalls,flowingsprings,denseforestsandbeautifulscenery.Thereare432peaks,980famouswaterfalls,18grotesquecavesand72secludedrocks.Feiyunding,themainpeak,is1296metersabovesealevel.Thetopplateofthepeakisroundandflat,withluxuriantflowersandplants,andcloudsandmist.ThemagnificentsunrisecanbecomparabletoMountTai.Everyyear,therearehundredsofthousandsofpeoplewhoclimbtowatchthesunrise.
Waterfalls,famousspringsandgrottoesarethenaturalmasterpiecesofLuofuMountain.Therearewaterfallsandspringseverywhere.Baishitanwaterfallfallsfromthe87meterhighcliff,thickfogcoversthesky,andtherainbowisdazzlinginthesun.Undertherock,"Idon'tknowwhenit'sJuneinsummer.".Thewaterfallofbaishuimenfallsthousandsoffeetandsoundslikethesky,andtheboneiscoldwhenyouhearit;thewaterfallofShuiliandongfalls"thePearlcurtainintheskyisdroopingstraight";thewaterfallofHuanglongdong"flieslikethesoundofwindandrainalloverthesky".Therearemanyspringsinfamousmountainsandholywaterinancienttemples.The"Changshengwell"inChongxutemple,the"zhuoxiquan"behindBaojitempleandthe"niangquan"besidesulaotempleareknownasthethreefamousspringsofLuofu.Theyarerichinwater,sweetandclear.TheycanbeasfamousasXiqiao'sleaflesswellandHangZhou'shupaoquan.Therearemanyfairycaves,eighteenbigcavesandhundredsofsmallcavesinLuofuMountain.ThiscaveiscalledDongtianinTaoism.EachDongtianisasmallworldsurroundedbyseveralmountains.Thecaveisquietandbeautiful,withgurglingspringsandancienttrees.
LuofuMountainislocatedontheTropicofcancer,withsubtropicalclimateandabundantrainfall,whichissuitableforthegrowthofmanyplants.Therearemorethan3000kindsofplants,ofwhichmorethan1200aremedicinalplants.ItisanaturalChineseherbalmedicinelibrary.Inthepast,oneofthefourmajormarketsinGuangdongwassetupintheLuofuMountainChongxuancienttemple,whichwascalledDongtiandrugmarket.Localspecialtiessuchassulaolai,Yunwusweetteaandsishijiaguohaveuniqueflavor.SuDongpo's"fourspringatthefootofLuofuMountain,Lujuredbayberryissecondtonew,eatingthreehundredlycheesaday,notlongasLingnanpeople"isthebestportrayal.
Inadditiontothemagnificentnaturalscenery,manymyths,legends,historicalsitesandtheflourishingofTaoismandBuddhism,LuofuMountainisknownas"immortalcave".IntheEasternJinDynasty,GeHongcameheretobuildannunnery,cultivateTaoismandrefinealchemy,andcreateaTaoistHolyLandinLingnanbypainting.IntheTangDynasty,TaoismandBuddhismcoexisted,andTaoistmonksgatheredlikeclouds.Therewasagrandgatheringof"fivehundredflowerstovisitLuofu".Thereareninetemplesandeighteentemplesonthemountain.
