AndaftertheWarofResistanceagainstJapanwasoverthepeopleinShanghaiagaindevotedthemselvestothestrugglesofopposingautocraticruleandcivilwarwhilefightingfordemocracyandfreedom，formingasecondbattle-lineinoppositiontotheruleoftheKuomintangreactionaries.
WiththedyingdownofrumblinggunsinbattlesfortheliberationofShanghaithecityreturnedtothearmsofthepeopleonMay27，1949，andthenextdaysawthePeople’sGovernmentofShanghaiproclaimedtobesetup，May28，1949beingdefinedasthevery“DayofLiberationforShanghai.”
